Empowering Changemakers: Nurturing the Leaders of Tomorrow

Clubs

Our students are not just future leaders; they are changemakers who are already making an impact on their communities. We are proud of our graduates who are using their education to make a positive difference in the world .

Clubs and Organizations

At Schutz American School, we believe in a holistic approach to education and that includes having fun! After School Activities (ASAs) are an excellent way to learn, develop skills and talents and build confidence .

We offer a wide range of activities from sports, martial arts, dancing, cooking, jewelry making, yoga, handwriting, reading stories…and so much more. We encourage all of our students to sign up for an after school activity.

There are four ASA seasons throughout the school year. Each season offers many different activities for students in grades K-12. Sign up is done through the use of google forms sent home to the parents via the school portal. Parents have the opportunity to sign up their child for any appropriate activity.

Because Schutz is a small school with a cohesive community, many students have the opportunity to assume a leadership position in an organization or club and/or join a sports team by the time they graduate. Again, working on the importance of the whole child and building the skill set that we want our graduates to learn.

Sports and club offerings vary from year to year depending on student interest and participation.

National Honor Society (NHS) membership has been the true mark of student achievement for over 100 years, but it goes far beyond a report card.   Students who have demonstrated excellent grades, leadership, service and character are invited invited to join NHS where they are celebrated for their achievements and contribute to their school and their community through service and leadership.

Inspired by Winston Churchill’s quote “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give”, the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) recognizes students’ ability to demonstrate excellence in scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenships develop skills that prepare them for future success, while making a positive and meaningful impact on their school and community. Despite it  being the smallest group in the school in terms of its members, it was able to carve its footprint as one of the effective organizations in the school body, owing to the diligence of the students who have served in it year after year.

Why do we have a student council?

The student council is a student-led organization. It represents the interests and concerns of the students.

It often works with the administration to improve school life and plan events or activities.

2024-2025 Elected Student Council Chairs

PRESIDENT: TAYMOUR RABIE

VICE PRESIDENT: YASSIN KHALIL

SECRETARY: MOUSTAFA ASHOUR

TREASURER: NADINE ISSA

“As student council president at Schutz, a school that truly lives by its motto “Schutz is family,”  my goal is to reignite the spirit that makes our community so special. The last amendment to our council’s framework was made in 2019, and since then, student engagement has noticeably dropped. I plan to work tirelessly to push for new changes, not only to modernize our student body’s voice but to bring back the energy and pride that Schutz is known for. We all deserve to feel that strong sense of family again.”

What is MUN?

Model United Nations (MUN) is an official simulation of the United Nations that hones participants’ debate, diplomacy, and leadership skills. Each year, MUN hosts the esteemed SASMUN event, where schools from across Egypt are invited to engage in lively discussions on global issues, fostering both collaboration and critical thinking.

The MUN club offers its members the opportunity to participate in conferences both locally and internationally, broadening their horizons and deepening their understanding of international relations. SASMUN is especially fortunate to be among the select schools invited to attend THIMUN, the prestigious MUN conference held in The Hague, where students from around the world come together to debate, learn, and build a better global community.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Interact club is to create confident global citizens who pursue their own passions while also uplifting those in need within our community. We aim to foster a legacy of learning and care by providing premier leadership and service opportunities for each of our members.

Friends of Schutz serves as the first student founded club at Schutz American School. Friends of Schutz was founded in 2024 by Moustafa Ashour (25’) and is advised by Dr. Heather Naro, the current Head of school. Friends of Schutz is a not for profit events association, meaning all funds raised go towards events that will be hosted for the SAS high school students. It hosts events like assemblies, bake sales, shark tanks and sponsors school events. Friends Of Schutz aims to empower students and host student-led events on campus to increase Schutz’s spirit.
